IOCB Tech is delighted to announce that our esteemed CEO, Prof. Martin Fusek, has been awarded the prestigious Emil Votoček Medal for his exceptional contributions to the development of science and education. This esteemed accolade recognizes individuals who have made significant advancements in the field of chemistry at the University of Chemical Technology (VSCHT) in Prague.
The Emil Votoček Medal is named after the renowned Professor Emil Votoček, a leading figure in the improvement of teaching and scientific research standards in chemistry during the 1930s. Professor Votoček played a pivotal role in shaping the Prague Polytechnic, the predecessor of today's VSCHT Prague, and also had a significant impact on the establishment of the University of Chemical Technology in 1920.
Prof. Martin Fusek, a distinguished graduate of VSCHT Prague with a specialization in organic chemistry, has dedicated his career to pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge and innovation. In 1988, he achieved the esteemed title of CSc. in biochemistry from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Driven by his passion for scientific exploration, Prof. Fusek embarked on postdoctoral fellowships in the United States and Germany from 1989 to 1995, further expanding his expertise and horizons.
With an unwavering commitment to advancing technology transfer and strategic development, Prof. Fusek has held pivotal positions in renowned organizations. Since 2007, he has been instrumental in technology transfer at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ÚOCHB AV ČR). In 2009, Prof. Fusek assumed the role of executive director at IOCB Tech, where he has facilitated the technology transfer process for ÚOCHB AV ČR, fostering collaborations and innovation. Furthermore, since 2012, he has also served as the deputy director for strategic development at the same institute, emphasizing his influential role in shaping the future of scientific research and advancement.
Prof. Fusek's remarkable contributions extend beyond his role at IOCB Tech. He serves as the chairman of the Research Board of TA ČR and holds memberships in several scientific and supervisory boards of esteemed academic institutions. Additionally, Prof. Fusek is a valued member of the presidium of the Czech Chemical Society, a testament to his leadership and expertise in the field.
